Our Job
Terminal illness is often defined as the point at which nothing more can medically be done to cure the disease. At MVH, we believe that although the disease may be incurable, there is much more that can be done for patients and their families to help them through the end of life process. Through this journey, the patient's dignity and quality of life are the focus of all of our family of care providers.
The Goals of our Hospice Program
The goals of each patient, along with their family, will determine the plan of care that will help the patient truly live without the fear of losing control or dignity. Through the plan of care, clinical and emotional symptoms are managed and the family receives comprehensive support.
In order to meet the various needs identified in the care plan, hospice uses a team approach, utilizing many different team members with various skills. Families who enlist the assistance of hospice earlier in the disease process generally do better than those who wait until their loved one has only a few remaining days.
End of life care is available to people of all ages who are living with a life limiting illness.
