Last week, long-time Mesilla Valley Hospice volunteer Pat Marshall was honored with the 2015 Molina Healthcare Community Champion Award, in recognition of her many years of community service. Below is a recap of the evening, written by our volunteer coordinator, Catharine Walkinshaw.
What a night! Pat was the 1st honoree and she was a hard act to follow. She got a standing ovation! Pat was the only award winner from southern NM; the other 5 were all from Albuquerque.
There were representatives from the governor's and Albuquerque mayor's offices and various New Mexico non-profits, as well as past award winners.
At the end of the night, a woman came up to Pat and asked if she remembered her. She had worked with Pat at the NMSU health clinic and Pat had taught her how to take blood pressures. That was 20+ years ago and now this woman is a physician and the medical director for Molina Healthcare of NM.
Pat had 4 generations of her family to watch her receive her award.
